12-7-21  THOUGHTS

We often get some of our most powerful thinking from songs.  God used singing to help us along in this life.  Interestingly, He used song to praise Himself!  I don’t know why, but about 1 AM this morning,  a song invaded my mind.  Actually only one verse of the song, I couldn’t remember the title or the other verses.  It took some warm milk to get me back to sleep, but I was grateful for the powerful idea that humbled me in repetitious waves.

The song was   HOW DEEP THE FATHER’S LOVE words written by Stuart Townend.
“Behold the man up on the cross my sin upon his shoulders,
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice call out among the scoffers.   It was my sin that held him there,  until it was accomplished.  His dying breath has brought me life,  I know that it is finished.”             ( How true, how penetrating, how powerful)
The words of another song come to mind...   SHALL I CRUCIFY MY SAVIOR.
“Once O once I crucified HIM, shall I crucify again?

Rom 5:8-11    But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9  Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. 10  For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11  And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
Rom 8:31-32     What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32  He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?
Titus 3:4-7    But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, 5  He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, 6  whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7  so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
1Tim 1:14-17    and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus. 15  It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all. 16  Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life. 17  Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

My Prayer:
O God, as you listen to our prayers individually, so we each by our sin, made the death of our Savior necessary.  Thank you for this unspeakable gift.  Your love is beyond our comprehension.  We praise you O God, for the Son of your love.  We lift you up O Lord, for the promises you have kept, and for those we know you will keep.

In the name of Jesus           Amen
